Anna Hazare The Rock Star Rocks It With Kapil Sharma

When I heard that the Gandhian idealist Anna Hazare was going to be on the Kapil Sharma Show I thought it would be extremely awkward for the revolutionary ideologue to be subjected to the comic antics of Kapil, Sunil Grover and Ali Asgar.

Surprisingly the show worked fine, and proved how conducive to a harmonious society it can be when two polarized parties decide to meet midway. Kapil and co. toned down their  antics. Anna decided to have some fun. He was at his indulgent best even when Ali Asgar and Sunil Grover inflicted their drag act on him.

What could have turned into an odd  union of two entirely opposed public figures turned out to be an exceptionally benevolent interactive session where Anna took time off to indulge in some horse-play with the comic actors. But he also spoke about the issues that mattered to him, such as youth power, collective protest against injustice, fasts-unto-death, etc.

Anna was on Kapil’s show to promote  a bio-pic on his life that is being released this month. The great Gandhian idealist proved that if Dhoni can take his film to the public, so can Anna Hazare. He spoke about his love for cinema before samaaj kalyan took over his life. Apparently Anna was the first-day-first-show kind of movie buff.So Kapil being Kapil, conducted a movie quiz on Anna  Hazare.

The Gandhian with the shy smile instantly recognized Dilip Kumar and Vyjanthimala  but failed to recognize Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. All in all the show was fun without sacrificing the element of gravity that separates Anna Hazare from the other politicians.

“Let me sit next to you. Even those who sit with you become chief ministers these days,”Kapil sniggered.

I hope Kejriwal laughed.
