The producers of Kalank, Karan Johar , Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios have taken a collective decision to hike ticket prices for their big-ticket release thereby sending a surge of resentment through the distribution business.
A topnotch personnel from a leading multiplex chain says, “We are being forced to hike ticket prices. The ticket buyer doesn’t know it’s the producers who putting this financial pressure. So we end up looking greedy. On top of that Kalank brings another problem for us. The film is nearly three hours long. We will therefore have to reduce the number of shows per day.”
This multiplex source describes it as “win-win situation” for the producers.
At 2 hours and 48 minutes, Kalank is longer than all the recent big-ticket films like Kesari(2 hours 30 minutes) and Badlaa(2 hours).
It has been noticed that the audiences are wary of lengthy films.
Most of the films that have done well in the last two years have a running time close to two hours.
