The new John Abraham actioner Force 2 this week has not only opened better than Force in 2011 it has also defeated the demon of demonetization.
Or so it seems.
Theatres all across the country report a good opening on Friday and a substantial increase in footfalls on Day 2.
While the collections on the opening day were close to Rs 7 crores in India, the second day saw a leap of nearly 20 percent.
Comments an unnamed source from a leading multiplex, “We are not allowed to talk collections. However I can unofficially tell you that we are all surprised by the collections for Force 2. It has opened as well, if not better than the big Hollywood film Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them. And there has been a growth in collection for Force 2 from Day 1 to Day 2 in sp ite of the fear of demonetization.”
Trade analyst Atul Mohan calls the unexpected footfalls for Force 2 the brand effect. “After Diwali with a gap of three weeks the audience was hungry for entertainment.During the last week releases were affected due to bad content and demonetization. Force 2 faring well in such circumstances proves that things are getting stabilised and cinema continues to be best source for leisure. Though the numbers may not look that great but looking at the current gloomy atmosphere they are very good. Content has to be decent for survival.”
Says Force 2 producer Vipul Shah, “Force 2 has beaten the gloom for people and the industry and we rare super-exited and happy with this growth. That Day 1 has been huge and today even better is a very happy situation for us, and the film industry.”
Adds director Abhinay Deo, “The public has risen above the stress of demonetization. We have proven once again that as a country we are able to face and respond to a difficult situation with an open mind and heart.”
