Vin Diesel fans crank up those Coronas. Netflix is bringing a great opportunity for everyone to gather and binge the Fast & Furious franchise. The franchise is on its last leg after the successful run of the latest feature, Fast X, and promises to bring back many familiar faces for the final film.
So, in preparation, the first seven Fast & Furious films are dropping on Netflix. The franchise started with The Fast and the Furious, which featured Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) as the protagonist, but as the franchise grew, Dom (Diesel) took over instead. The following movies build the mythos, movie by movie and character by character, of the franchise as we know it. What makes the first few movies so great is their grounded and gritty nature, epic vehicular action, and some terrific villains.
Brian O’Connor Will Return in ‘Fast X’ Part 2
Fast X saw the beginning of the end of the road for the family as they go up against a villain who emerged from the shadows of their past, the consequences of which will be felt in Fast X Part 2. The (possibly) final film in the franchise is helmed by returning director Louis Leterrier and promises to go back to the franchise’s roots. Diesel has been sharing glimpses of the upcoming film with fans over social media, with peeks of reuniting with trusted friends and locations.
The actor also revealed that Walker’s Brian will return to the franchise for one last round. The franchise chose to respect Walker’s legacy by allowing Brian to live off-screen, raising a family with Mia (Jordana Brewster) while Dom and the crew continued to save the world in increasingly wild fashion. Speaking of Walker’s return, Diesel divulged,
“The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious [in] April 2027?’ I said, ‘Under three conditions.’ First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing! The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.”
The franchise will also bring back Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Alan Ritchson, and more veterans for the final leg. The first seven Fast & Furious films will drop on August 15. Fast X Part 2 is expected to drop sometime in 2027. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
