B-town’s Next Big Star Rajkummar Rao Stars On The Latest Digital Cover Of MensXP

New Delhi, April 5, 2019: It’s not every day that an Indian A-list celebrity opens up about a taboo subject. On the April digital cover of MensXP, actor Rajkummar Rao has challenged this norm and shed light on mental wellness, and especially the lack of awareness in tackling it amongst the country’s men. He also shared that he channels his passion for cinema into a cathartic source of energy and mental fortitude.

The 34-year old who has close to half-a-dozen upcoming releases this year including the upcoming ‘Mental Hai Kya’ with Kangana Ranaut also delivered a powerful monologue in front of the camera as a part of the publication’s April cover shenanigans. He also talks about the modern-day pressures of chasing a dream and always being the best.

Speaking on this month’s MensXP cover, Rajkumar Rao said, “I think it’s [an outdated notion] that boys don’t cry. I’m a boy, I’m a man, and I cry. It’s very human to cry. I just want to say that when you feel low, talk to your friends and talk to your family. Don’t let it build up inside your heart. Feel free to talk about it to someone; no one will judge you. Any stress you’re going through just talk about it.”

“The idea behind this month’s Digital Cover is to destigmatize mental health among men. We are challenging traditional notions around masculinity that considers crying emasculating. Rajkummar was the perfect choice as the face of this cover because of his honest personality, and a past record of speaking up on a wide range of issues. Going ahead, we want to work closely with more celebrities to bring to the fore the themes that are of relevance to modern Indian men,” MensXP Editor-in-Chief Namrata Nongpiur said.
