It’s an all-out war between the Central Board Of Film Certification(CBFC) and the Film Certificate Appellate Tribunal(a.k.a the Tribunal) over the certification of Kushan Nandy’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz.
The CBFC, under the chairmanship of Pahlaj Nihalani sent off an angry letter to the Tribunal , drawing attention to the fact that the film shown to the CBFC is different from what was shown to the Tribunal after the former body refused to grant a censor certificate.
The letter (of which this writer has a copy) from the CBFC to the Tribunal states that the version of the film shown to the Tribunal was different from the version that was shown to and cut by the Examining Committee. This, says the letter , is in in clear disregard of the guidelines.
Reacting quickly to the CBFC’s letter the Tribunal has reserved its decision to grant Babumoshai Bandookbaaz a censor certificate.
This move to not immediately upturn the CBFC’s decision is clearly a step away from The Tribunal’s earlier stance regarding all the films that came to the Tribunal after being rejected censor certificate.
