The very lovely Banita Sandhu who plays the comatose heroine in Shoojit Sircar’s October is not going to seen in any other Bollywood film for some time.
The girl from Wales has gone back to London to finish her studies.
Chatting on whatsapp from London Banita says, “October is so much more than a film for me. It’s an experience. It’s a really a slice-of-life cinema.I knew from the start that this was a special project, and I’m so happy to have been a part of it.It’s much more than a film for me.”
Banita is all praise for the film’s director and writer. “Juhi’s writing is poetry on celluloid. She and (director) Shoojit Sir make magic together. It is very rare to find artistes like Shoojit Sir and Juhi to work with.”
Banita whose parents are second-generation Asian Indians—Banita’s paternal and maternal grandparents migrated from Indian to Britain and her parents are Britain-born—is focusing on finishing her studies at King’s College in London. “I am perfectionist, so I want to get top grades. My graduation exam are in mid-May. After that I am finally done. It’s the last push now so I can’t slacken.”
She would love to return to acting after her exams. “I can’t wait to get my final course done so I can work (in films)again. The film set is home for me.So yeah, if I get good films I’d consider them for sure. But for me, quality is very important”
