“Bank Chor Was So Vulgar, Even The Trailer Was Not Passed  By Us”

Pahlaj Nihalani Slams Makers For Calling It A  Family Film

Reacting sharply to the smug statements by the makers of  Bank Chor stating that theirs is a family film censorboard chief  Pahlaj Nihalani has trashed all their claims of being a wholesome film.

In a  press statement Bank Chor leading man Riteish Deshmukh is quoted as saying, “Throughout the making of the film, we kept family audiences in mind and we are so glad that the film has got a rating that will attract all kinds of people to the theaters ! Ganpati Bappa Morya, Let’s Rock!”

Says Nihalani sarcastically, “If Bank Chor is so family-oriented why did we ask them to re-dub the  title everywhere because it sounded like an abuse? In fact even now in all their radio television and public events they continue to pronounce Bank Chor like a behen ki gaali.”

Nihalani also draws attention to the fact that  the intentions  of the Bank Chor makers were under scrutiny at theCBFC from the start. “The trailer of Bank Chor was so vulgar that we refused to certify it for six months. They finally went to the Revising Committee and got is passed.”

The censor chief deplores this doublespeak. “If you’ve made a naughty film why are you positioning it as a family film?”
