Big B, Tapsee On The UN Screening Of Pink

The  encomiums, impact and momentum of Annirudh Roy Choudhary’s Pink refuses to slacken. Now this momentous  work has been invited to be screened at the UN headquarters  in New York, a singular honour for a Hindi film.

Says the  Big B, “It is indeed a singular honour.Pink was not meant to be an effort to initiate a movement. But if it has  initiated  a debate, a discussion, and  discourse on safety of woman I think the purpose of the film is well served. Society and morals have undergone changes with time, as have the laws of the land. We are not out to change laws or even suggest that we can. We have just constructed a fictional story and through the circumstances that prevail, put out a few points that could perhaps be viewed as relevant. Our efforts have made an impact far beyond the expected.”

Says Tapsee Pannu, “We never thought Pink would have such long legs. Every time it achieves a new milestone  it feels like we’ve won an Oscar. This news of the film being invited to the UN came as  another reward in our PINK  hat, ha ha. We never imagined our film would go this far. The fact that it is a such a real and honest depiction of the reality that faces  women in our country, made it so important, I think.”

Shoojit Sircar the producer of Pink is overjoyed. “It’s a great honor.PINK is an universal film. All across the globe women go through similar situations every day. It’s not just a problem in our region. This is a great opportunity for us to start the Pink discussion in the US.In the same  way it’s affected our people here India,I hope the people outside also get impacted by the film in the same way.”
