BJP Leader Slams Saif For Pro-Ravan Interview

Published

Every once in a  while Saif  Ali Khan  puts his  foot in his mouth .Just the  other day he had been quoted as saying he would like to quit Mumbai and  relocate to Pataudi his ancestral town in Madhya Pradesh, with his wife and son.

Saif had to hastily clarify that he had no intention of  leaving  Mumbai.

Now  after an  interview where he  was quoted as saying his character of Raavan will be  “humanized” and the abduction  of Sita Mata “justified” in Om Raut’s Adipurush  proposed take  on the Ramayan,  had  a BJP politician Ram Kadam taking to Twitter to condemn Saif’s  words.

Said Ram Kadam, “Actor #SaifAliKhan makes an extremely shocking statement regarding his forthcoming film Adipurush. Saif who plays Ravan’s character says Ravan’s abduction of Sita Maa will be justified in the film. Ravan’s humane side will be shown and his war against Sri Ram will be justified…..But if #Adhipurush plans to show Ravan in positive light and justify the inhuman act of abduction of Sita Maa, we will never allow that to happen. Hope better sense prevails #JaiShriRam.”

Having realized he had  again  willy-nilly generated a controversy  Saif quickly clarified,  “I’ve been made aware that one of my statements during an interview, has caused a controversy and hurt people’s sentiments. This was never my intention or meant that way. I would like to sincerely apologize to everybody and withdraw my statement. Lord Ram has always been the symbol of Righteousness & Heroism for me. Adipurush is about celebrating the victory of good over evil and the entire team is working together to present the epic without any distortions.”

Apparently Om Raut’ s take on the Ramayan starring Ajay Devgan as Rama, Kriti Sanon as Sita  and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana, intends to take a revisionist look at  Ravana’s image as  the village of  the myth.
