BLACKPINK’s Rosé has once again found herself at the center of a racism controversy due to the actions of a foreign media outlet.
Recently, ELLE UK published coverage of Paris Fashion Week, where the guests posed together for a group photo. However, the outlet’s report appeared to intentionally crop Rosé out of the image. The edit sparked outrage among fans worldwide, who condemned it as “clear racial discrimination against an Asian artist.” Although ELLE UK later issued an apology, many argued that the move reflected a broader, repeated pattern of disrespect toward Asian women in global media.

This is not the first time BLACKPINK members have faced such issues. In the past, Jennie was subjected to a similar incident at Chanel’s Paris Fashion Week event when actress Margaret Qualley suddenly touched her blonde hair and asked, “Is this real hair?” The moment, captured on camera, went viral online and drew widespread criticism as a racially insensitive and inappropriate gesture toward a woman of color.
Together, these incidents highlight the discriminatory experiences that both Rosé and Jennie have endured despite their global superstar status. Fans have expressed frustration and sadness, emphasizing that greater awareness and cultural sensitivity within the international fashion and entertainment industries are long overdue.
