Boycott Toofaan Trends On Twitter

Toofaan has triggered off  a  clamorous clique  of  protestors  asking for a  boycott against  the  film on  the social media

Inter-cultural liaisons  are  rapidly  growing unacceptable among a  certain section  of  Indians.

Proof of this lies  in the fact that Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s  sports drama Toofaan has triggered off  a  clamorous clique  of  protestors  asking for a  boycott against  the  film on  the social media since Farhan Akhtar playing a  Muslim boxer is shown in a romantic relationship with a Hindu girl(played by Mrunal Thakur).

In  the  past very  successful films like Mani Ratnam’s Bombay and  Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan  plotted their film around a Hindu-Muslim marriage.

But according to a leading filmmakar who  doesn’t wish to be named, “Such  inter-religious relationships are a thing  of  the past. We  cannot make  films about Hindu-Muslim  romances and marriages. Sentiments are  hurt. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is a politically conscious  filmmaker. He  should have known better.”

While  no  member of  the  Toofaan  team agreed  to talk on record an angry crew member wanted to know where we were heading  to.  “If it is  not okay to fall in love with someone without ascertaining  the person’s religion we  will  soon  see movies where characters  from minority communities are  used  only as props.You know that ‘Rahim Chacha’  syndrome? ”

Toofaan is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language sports drama film directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and starring Farhan Akhtar as a national level boxer, alongside Mrunal Thakur and Paresh Rawal in supporting roles. The film will schedule to release on 16 July 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.

Story of Toofaan

‘Toofaan’ which narrates the story of a boxer marks the second collaboration of Farhan Akhtar with Rakeysh after the massive success of ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, the biopic based on Indian athlete Milkha Singh. In the film, Farhan will be seen as a national-level boxing player. The movie has been shot across Mumbai at real locations like the Dongri slums and the Gateway of India.
