'Boyhood Season 2' to commence filming in 2026

Coupang Play series Boyhood gears up for Season 2.
Boyhood is set in the 1980s in Onyang, Chungcheong Province, and tells the story of Jang Byung Tae, a pushover who unexpectedly becomes a boss overnight.
Season 2, set against the backdrop of a coastal fisheries high school, aims to bring new stories and characters.
Boyhood set big records when it premiered in 2023. It recorded the highest viewership on Coupang Play, with a 2,914% surge compared to its first week of airing and surpassing 590,000 reviews.
Moreover, in 2024, it won seven awards, including the 3rd Blue Dragon Series Awards, 2024 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards, 15th Korea Drama Awards, and 2024 Content Asia Awards.
Season 2 will once again be directed by Lee Myung Woo. He shared his thoughts: “I’m happy that, thanks to the passionate enthusiasm viewers showed for Season 1, we’re able to bring another story of Boyhood. This season will feature a new setting — a coastal fisheries high school — and portray a tale of even more diverse and multi-dimensional characters. We aim to capture moments of youth that are familiar yet new, cheerful yet heartfelt, so we ask for much anticipation.”
Boyhood Season 2 is aiming to begin filming in the first half of 2026, with the release date to be announced later.
