Come 2018 and you will see a bevy of Bollywood actors and actresses representing world cinema at the Oscars. In a stunning development, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Aamir Khan, Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone have all been invited by the Oscar-granting organization, The Academy Of Motion Pictures, to become a part of the prestigious award event for their remarkable contribution to Indian cinema. Getting an invitation means to potentially become a voting member of the Academy as it gives the member a chance to vote during the Oscars.
Along with them, Wonder Woman Gal Gadot, The Rock and Priyanka’s co-star Dwayne Johnson, Chris Pratt, Justin Timberlake, Leslie Jones, Monica Bellucci and Riz Ahmed are some of the other invitees who have been recognised for their significant contribution to their respective fields of work.

The member who is invited has to achieve distinction in their respective fields and actors must have credited roles in minimum three films. Those who were nominated for or won an Oscar the previous year are automatically considered. Apart from actors, invitees also include talent from casting directors, costume designers, documentary to music, producers and film editors.

Salman Khan – Sultan and Bajrangi Bhaijaan
Deepika Padukone – xXx: Return of Xander Cage and Piku
