Carrie Underwood added some waterworks of her own to the raindrops that ended her very last show of her Las Vegas residency, Reflection.
An emotional Underwood performed her last show April 12, more than three years after she brought Reflections to the stage.
The “American Idol” winner-turned-judge was the first artist to host a show at the brand new Resorts World Theatre when she debuted Reflection in December 2021.
A clearly tearful Carrie posted a dramatic video on her Instagram account showing her drenched by rain falling on the stage. With her voice shaking, she thanked the crowd for coming out for her last performance, praising her “incredible, amazing band.” She asked the crowd to “make some noise” for the crew and the performers who have been with her for three-and-a-half years. Underwood concluded by saying, “it has been an honor and a privilege and a pleasure and a blessing to get to be on this stage. God bless you guys!.. Thanks for having us!” as a platform lowered her below the stage.
In the caption of the post, she wrote, “72 shows…3+ years…THANK YOU!! 👏 “
Carrie Underwood Puts On High Energy Finale
The 42-year-old singer posted her goodbyes at the end of the show on her Instagram account, writing, “And that’s a wrap for me and my crew at @resortsworldlv . #Reflection has been such an incredible experience! Thanks to each and every one of you who came to see it and thanks to all the band/crew/performers who made it so spectacular! This show will always have a special place in my heart! On to the next chapter!”
#REFLECTION 💎 #CUinVegas“
Underwood’s last show, much like the other 71, featured a high-energy performance showcasing her hits like “Cowboy Casanova,” “Before He Cheats” and “Church Bells.”
According to People, Carrie was reflective about “Reflection” throughout the show.
“We are extremely blessed to be able to be on this stage,” she said during the show, referring to herself and her band. “There are so many turns of events I know in my life, and I’m sure in these guys’ lives, that only God could have opened those doors and got me to the next place.”
“It’s been really incredible to be on that roller coaster ride, and definitely recognize that it’s all Him and just all blessings,” Carrie continued. “It has been an absolute honor to get to be on this stage. From all of us, we are so blessed. I’m gonna be reflecting on all that we’ve done here with you guys.”
Carrie Turns Her Focus to American Idol
The goodbye may have been emotional, but Carrie Underwood has already shifted her focus to her new gig as a judge on “American Idol.“
The singer has been busy posting videos from Hawaii, where Idol is filming for “Aulani Week.” But she’s not necessarily relaxing in the sunshine. In one Instagram post, the singer shakes up fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, who are relaxing on the beach with host Ryan Seacrest, all raising a coconut shell to being back on the island. But Carrie is having none of it, running up blowing a whistle and barking out orders like a drill sergeant. She tells the men it’s time for their morning workout, saying, “C’mon guys, we gotta show the top 24 what discipline is all about.”
And while she may’ve had an emotional exit leaving Las Vegas, Carrie is clear that the timing is right.
The singer told Las Vegas Magazine, “The timing did work out beautifully as ‘Idol’ came together,” said Underwood. “It’s a bit of a full-circle moment for me in a number of ways, given that the ‘Reflection’ show is really a celebration of my career so far, which I owe so much of to ‘American Idol.’ And similar to the residency, the ‘Idol’ schedule is spread out over time, so neither meant being away from home for too long at one time.”
