CBFC Asks Naam Shabana Producer To Get Rid Of  Domestic Violence

The anxiously awaited political thriller Naam Shabana which features Tapsee Pannu and Manoj Bajpai in an espionage mode, has been cleared by the  Censor Board Of Film Certification(CBFC) with three cuts for a  ‘UA’ audience. In other words kids can watch Naam Shabana if accompanied by their guardian.

However no one gets to see  a scene of domestic violence in Naam Shabana.

“Hitting a woman is not permissible under any circumstance. If we had to today certify films about domestic violence like Deepa Mehta’s Heaven On Earth or Jagmohan Mundra’s Provoked it would be impossible,” says a source from the CBFC.

The CBFC has also ordered two very strange cuts.

“A shot showing a  bottle of liquor had to go. And a Santa-Banta joke was ordered deleted. Ridiculing any community , no matter how sporting the spirit of the humour, is not allowed,” says the CBFC source.
