Chhapaak: Why Was The Real Acid Victim Missing From The Trailer Launch?

It was  Deepika Padukone’s show all the way at the trailer launch of Chhapaak on Tuesday,and  no two ways  about it.

A  lot of  people who love Deepika’s supremely sterling performance  in the trailer(and on stage where she broke down  and wept bitterly) were left wondering why the real acid victim Laxmi Aggarwal on  whom the film is based  was missing from the trailer launch.

More  than anyone  else this film a tribute to the real-life acid-attack victim’s brave and determined  fight  for justice. So why was  Ms Malti Aggarwal not present at an event that was essentially honouring her?

Sources  in the know say, Malti  was  not even invited for the event.

“I think  the producers  wanted this to be Deepika Padukone’s moment.No distractions. Sadly this meant,leaving out the one  person  to whom this matters  the  most,” says  the source.

We do  hope the producers of Chhapaak would make  a  note of how  sorely Ms Laxmi Aggarwal  was missed  at  the launch function and ensure that she is  asked to  participate  in  future promotional  activities for  Chhapaak. Without  the real Malti(Laxmi’s character has been re-named  in  the  film)  the  film’s promotions look  like  a birthday party without a cake.
