The failure boxoffice performance of Saaho has put a question mark on the next big Telugu release Sye Raa Narsimha Reddy.
Like Saaho , this ambitious bio-pic of a freedom fighter has also been dubbed into Hindi , Tamil and Malayalam and it hopes to capture a pan-India market.
But the mixed reactions to Saaho now raises the question of the tenability of South Indian films when given an all-India release.
Says a source, “Just because Baahubali and KGF did well it doesn’t mean other films in the South Indian languages made on a lavish scale would also do equally well. Saaho is proof that a pan-India market is not open to all high-budget films from the South.”
The Hindi rights of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy are bought by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Films.
