On the August 23 broadcast of MBN’s Let’s Go Go 5, married couple Ailee and Choi Si-hoon appeared together, sharing candid stories about their relationship and past struggles.
During the episode, Choi Si-hoon recalled the period before meeting Ailee, when he was caught up in damaging rumors that he worked at an adult entertainment establishment. “At the time, I spent a lot of hours sitting alone in the corner of a basement parking lot. I even picked up smoking again after having quit,” he confessed, drawing sympathy from viewers.
He added, “It was extremely difficult to prove something that wasn’t true. Having to deal with everything alone made it even harder. I received so much hurt from people that I even distanced myself from acting.”
Ailee also recalled how the rumors followed them even into their marriage. “He didn’t want public attention, but when he met me, he suddenly got it again. While we were on our honeymoon, there was even a strange rumor circulating that he was the CEO managing women who do adult broadcasts,” she revealed.
Despite this, she explained that the two of them chose to focus on each other: “We just turned off our phones and enjoyed our time together.”
Choi Si-hoon, visibly emotional, expressed his regret to Ailee: “Ailee already faces enough hardships just by being in the entertainment industry. I feel sorry if more difficulties come her way because of me.”
