EXCLUSIVE: Cohen Media Group has picked up U.S. domestic distribution rights to Trifole, written and directed by Gabriele Fabbro and set in the rarely filmed UNESCO World Heritage region of Alba in Piedmont, considered the truffle capital of the world.

CMG is planning a 2025 theatrical release for the film, a modern fable about reconnecting with nature and honoring tradition. It stars Umberto Orsini and Margherita Buy alongside co-writer Ydalie Turk, Enzo Iacchetti and scene-stealing truffle-hunting dog Birba.

Dalia (Turk) returns to Piedmont to care for her ailing grandfather and legendary truffle forager Igor (Orsini). As Dalia and Birba search for a rare prizewinning white truffle that might save her grandfather’s home and legacy, she discovers her own connection to tradition, family and the land in one of Italy’s most celebrated culinary and cultural landscapes.

The acquisition was negotiated by Cohen Media Group EVP Robert Aaronson with Massimo Fabbro, who also served as EP.

Trifole world premiered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, screening at Santa Barbara, Sonoma, Miami, Phoenix and Italian Film Festival USA.

“Gabriele’s film is a warm and inviting journey to a timeless Italian landscape that spans generations. With lush cinematography and compelling storytelling, Trifole deftly addresses the themes of family, integrity, bravery and life’s simple pleasures. We’re enormously pleased to be able to bring Gabriele’s heartfelt tribute to his country’s heritage to theatrical audiences in the U.S,” said Aaronson.

It’s the latest Italian language release for Cohen Media Group following last year’s Oscar-nominated Io Capitano by Matteo Garrone.

“I’m very proud to be partnering with Cohen Media Group to bring Trifole to American audiences. CMG has a strong legacy of championing Italian cinema in the U.S., and having Trifole included in their lineup is a true honor.”
