It looks like the honourable courts are in no mood to accept Udta Punjab as a model for the role of diminished moral policing.
Using the Udta Punjab example to get a film cleared in the legal courts after the CBFCfailed the makers ,the producers of another film entitled Love Day chose to go to the court after they were denied a censor certification.
Rather than entertain their grievance the honourable court asked the makers of Love Day to go back to the CBFC with their film.
Says a source in the know, “The honourable court wanted to know why the film’s makers had approached the court when they had the option of going to the Film Certificate Appellate Tribunal after the Examining Committee and Revising Committee of the CBFChad refused certification for the film. The court asked the film’s producers to approach the Tribunal for a certificate and then inform the court by 19 September.”
This clearly indicates the court’s refusal to engage in censorial battles.
Says a source from censor board, “It seems Udta Punjab was a one-off happening. The courts have made it implicitly clear they have no time for humbug litigation.”
