After taking on the FAA with Season 2 of The Rehearsal, Emma Slater hopes Nathan Fielder would consider a spin on the dance floor.
Coming off of Season 34, the Dancing with the Stars pro recently pitched the 4x Emmy-nominated comedian to join the next season of the ABC reality competition series, which she thinks could be a crossover with his HBO simulation docu-comedy.
“I know who I want to dance with next season on Dancing with the Stars, and that is Nathan Fielder, of the genius that is The Rehearsal and Nathan for You,” she said on TikTok. “And if you haven’t watched these, he is a national treasure. This human is hilarious, and I’m obsessed with him and lots of people are. He would be amazing on Dancing with the Stars.”
Slater added, “I have no idea if he can dance, and if I was to guess, I’d say he possibly can’t — sorry Nathan if you’re watching, maybe you can — but if I was to take a wild guess, I would say that he wasn’t the most natural dancer, but we would have the best time and I’m obsessed with him. So, Nathan Fielder, I’m calling you out.”
Explaining the premise of The Rehearsal, in which Fielder stages elaborate real-world simulations to help strangers overcome their anxieties, Slater could see the show making a seamless crossover with DWTS.
“The biggest, hilarious moment in American history could be that Nathan fabricates this entire dancing competition, which is a mock rehearsal for the real thing, or it could be that Dancing with the Stars is a mock rehearsal for something that he’s doing,” added Slater. “There’s a way that this could be the rehearsal for the real thing, and that would be the biggest joke in the world and I would be here for it.”
Slater was paired with Andy Richter for Season 34, during which they were eliminated in Week 9. During this week’s finale, the show’s highest rated since 2016, Robert Irwin was crowned the new mirrorball champion with partner Witney Carson.
