Days of Our Lives’ Raven Bowens on if EJ Could End Johnny & Chanel’s Relationship

Raven Bowens, who plays Chanel, recently shared how EJ’s shooting case could positively impact her character’s relationship with Johnny in Days of Our Lives. For those unfamiliar, Johnny was arrested on suspicion of shooting EJ. Earlier, he admitted to being present the night EJ was shot and had aimed a gun at him. However, he denied pulling the trigger. As the case continues to take intense twists and turns, several characters could come under legal scrutiny.

Despite the stakes, Bowens pointed to a silver lining in the attempted murder trial. Here’s what she said.

Raven Bowens thinks EJ’s shooting has solidified Johnny and Chanel ‘as a unit’ in Days of Our Lives

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Bowens revealed that the attempted murder trial could ultimately strengthen Johnny and Chanel’s bond. She said, “It solidifies Johnny and Chanel as a unit, because they have to fight for each other. They have to defend each other. They have to stick by each other.”

While she acknowledges the potential positives of the trial, she also recognizes that their relationship will face serious challenges. “This is a big challenge for them. Because what happens in a whodunit? We have to know who did it, and then you have to have a trial. There’s a lot that’s going to happen with this whole trial,” she added.

Bowens explained that although many characters had motives to want EJ dead and could come under suspicion, Chanel will continue to stand by Johnny. She said, “But I think, ultimately, Chanel does stand by her husband, whether or not he turns out to be guilty. And they are able to build a deeper connection just based on the things that they share. And the vulnerability that they have with each other throughout this whole shenanigan.”

She further explained that the cracks in their strained relationship could eventually mend once they start having honest conversations. She said, “Initially, it does create a lot of friction between the two of them. But once they have a dialogue about [everything that’s happened] and he opens up to her, Chanel is able to be that rock. Once she knows what’s actually what, then she’s able to become that rock. And then, at some point, I think it transitions, and he has to be the rock for her.”

Days of Our Lives airs every week from Monday to Friday.
