Denzel Washington's Best Performance Ever Is Now Trending On Streaming

A classic Denzel Washington movie from the early 2000s has found new life on streaming, and it’s quickly becoming a hit on Paramount+. Washington is a performer who needs little introduction, and his extensive career has seen him play action heroes and complex historical figures. No matter who he’s playing, Washington is the kind of actor who elevates a film.

Still appearing in blockbusters all these years later, Washington’s career has continued to evolve, and that has allowed the Oscar-winner to keep improving. However, his classic films still have a lot of pull in the modern day, with some of his best standing the test of time as bona fide classics.

Nearly 25 years after the film’s release, Training Day has become a hit once again, this time on streaming. The crime thriller also stars Ethan Hawke, and tapped Denzel Washington to play a grizzled LAPD narcotics officer. Training Day was a critical and commercial smash, and it even earned Washington one of his two Oscar wins.

As reported by Flix Patrol, Training Day has cracked Paramount+’s top 10 movie chart, and currently sits at the 10th spot. It previously peaked at 7th place, but has only spent a few consecutive days among the top 10. It joins other hit films like Mean Girls and Top Gun: Maverick, both of which have charted for hundreds of days.

What Streaming Success Means For Training Day

The 25-Year-Old Thriller Still Shines

Denzel Washington has made great films in his career, but few have stood the test of time quite like Training Day. In a crowded field of cop thrillers from the early Aughts, the Oscar-winning film isn’t just another procedural, but is anchored by a challenging story and brilliant performances.

Denzel Washington has won Oscars for Glory (Best Supporting Actor) and Training Day (Best Actor).

With a name like Washington attached, Training Day has all the ingredients to make a streaming hit, especially since the film was a smashing success initially. Its time on the Paramount+ chart will probably be brief, but it stands as a great reminder of an excellent film that deserves more attention in the modern day.

Even though Denzel Washington has earned two Academy Awards, it’s impossible not to feel like he deserved to win for this outstanding 1992 role.

Our Take On Training Day’s Streaming Popularity

Denzel Washington as Alonzo Harris scowls in Training Day

Streaming movie charts are sometimes difficult to predict, and there’s no telling what might spike in popularity all of a sudden. However, I don’t find Training Day‘s success to be surprising at all, and I think it deserves even more praise and attention than it’s getting.

However, Paramount+’s movie chart is especially difficult to predict, especially since there are movies that have charted for nearly 1,000 days (Top Gun: Maverick). Denzel Washington turned in what is arguably his best performance in Training Day, but the Paramount+ chart is so clogged with stalwarts that there’s no room for the movie to flourish.
