Among the young generation of actors who are making a mark in Bollywood, Sridevi’s elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor is definitely a frontranker.
It therefore came as a surprise to know that Karan Johar has decided to release Janhvi’s second feature film(not counting the segment of Ghost Stories on Netflix last year) on the OTT platform.
Though no one is speaking out against the decision—Karan Johar is, after all, the producer of the film and can do anything he wishes to with it—there are murmurs of dissent within the film’s core crew iteslf .
A cast member wondered if selling a film from a production house as big as Dharma Productions to the OTT platform made sense.
“Would Karan Johar release Brahmastra on the digital platform? No? Because there are big superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor in the cast? Then why this treatment to Gunjan Saxena Kargil Girl ? Because it’s a smaller film? Because it stars a female hero in the main role? Unfortunately in India when you release a film on OTT it means it’s a relatively small film.”
Apparently Janhvi’s father is not happy with the decision to release his daughter’s film on OTT. He remained unavailable for comment.
