Punjab’s most popular product after the sarson saag Diljit Dosanjh is back with a new song . Entitled Jind Mahi it was released on November 27 and immediately became an internetsensation.
Ever-grateful and humbled for his stardom Diljit says, “I’ve always said , and I will continue to say , that I am singer and musician first.Actor later.Acting toh bas aise hi hogayi(acting just happened). I set out to be a musician and I am glad I succeeded .”
About his new single Jind Mahi, Diljit makes a startling revelation. “It was actually planned as a song for a film. But that didn’t materialize. And I am grateful for that.We said , let’s restructure it as an independent single. Thankfully my fans don’t expect me to sing in movies for my songs to become successful.”
The music video of Jind Mahi features Diljit with the pretty and petite Banita Sandhu, the girl who played the complicated role of a comatose accident victim in Shoojit Sircar’sOctober.
The chemistry between Diljit and Banita is a highlight of the video.
Says Diljit, “Banita was a delight to shoot with.So cooperative, professional and hassle-free.God bless her. Banita lives in London. And since we shot the music video in London it all worked out beautifully.”
The fresh sound of Jind Mahi can be attributed to the new music team that Diljit worked with,
Says Diljit, “I don’t have my own musical team. For each song I work with a new group of talented musicians. This helps me to grow as an artiste. As you know ,it is a rapidly changing world out there. One needs to keep growing, evolving constantly . Or else you get left behind.”
Diljit attributes the success of the new song to his fans. “In Punjab they expect me to sing first, act later. I am happy to oblige.I will be doing concert tours to promote the song on stage shortly, although thanks to the internet it has acquired legs of its own on its own.”
