Former “Dancing With the Stars” champion Nicole Scherzinger has won a Tony award! The show’s season 10 winner took the trophy at the 78th Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical. The former Pussycat Dolls member was recognized for her role in “Sunset Blvd.” The win was the first of her career.
The vocalist kicked off her speech by jokingly imploring the audience, who gave her a standing ovation, to sit down so she could make the most of her allotted 90 seconds to speak.
Her voice then began trembling as she said, “First of all, I just have to thank God for carrying me every step of the way. I give you all the glory.”
She called the Broadway schedule “hardcore” before saying she was “so honored to be recognized alongside these exceptional warrior women in this category.” Her fellow nominees included Audra McDonald, Jennifer Simard, Jasmine Amy Rogers, and Megan Hilty.
