Enter Shahid, Exit Ranveer

From this month Sanjay Leela Bhansali shoots his ambitious historical drama Padmavati with Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor on an elaborate set constructed at Mehboob studios in Mumbai.

Ranveer Singh who plays the film’s antagonist will now get busy promoting his December release Befikre.

Says a source close to Bhansali production, “Shahid and Deepika play an intensely in-love husband and wife in Padmavati. There will be  much poetry and romance in their togetherness. Sanjay Bhansali will also shoot a romantic number featuring them.”

Needless to say , Ranveer who is Deeepika’s khaas dost in real life, gets to sing no songs in Padmavati.

“There is no room for romance or singing in Ranveer’s character. This would be his most menacing character to date, and in sharp contrast to Shahid’s gently poetic Rajasthaniwarrior’s character,” says the source.

Once Ranveer resumes shooting for Padmavati he intends to get into an isolated huddle with himself.

“He plays a surly smouldering ball of flame, an arrogant and unstoppable warrior who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Ranveer who is by nature gregarious intends to seclude himself to feel his character’s egoistic  personality,” say the source.
