“Recipe For Love” Episodes 5 & 6 Recap
- Now that Ju Ah realizes her boss is actually her childhood friend, she can’t help but feel a little betrayed that he never told her the truth. Still, she decides to play along and pretend she doesn’t recognize him. In her mind, it’s better to keep this secret to herself. After all, he’s her boss now, and he’s leaving the country in a year anyway. Both Ju Ah and Hyun Bin are convinced they failed to recognize each other back then, completely unaware that the truth is already sitting right in front of them.
- Meanwhile, Hyun Bin opens up to his friend about his lingering feelings for Ju Ah. She was the one who once stood up for him and saved him from bullies, and those memories never really left him. When his friend can’t understand why he still won’t confess, Hyun Bin reveals the real reason: his complicated family history, filled with affairs and one-sided love stories. To him, love only leads to pain, and that’s why he believes he and Ju Ah can never be anything more than what they are now.
- Over at the local market, Jeong Han beats Dong Ik in the race for market president. Furious and wounded with pride, Se Ri pushes her husband to run for vice president instead. Dong Ik storms into Jeong Han’s hospital to demand his “rightful” position, but everything falls apart the moment he runs into Seong Mi. She is Jeong Han’s wife and also Dong Ik’s first love from years ago. The shock leaves him completely frozen, and he ends up fleeing the scene without saying a single word.
- During a company workshop, Hyun Bin casually confesses to Joon Hyeok that he once had a first love who changed his entire outlook on life. He admits that he used to be a total crybaby, but meeting her became a turning point that helped him grow stronger. What Hyun Bin doesn’t realize is that Joon Hyeok already knows exactly who he’s talking about. As Ju Ah’s closest work friend, Joon Hyeok has heard the whole story. The awkward tension only grows the next day when Hyun Bin is caught off guard by the sudden appearance of Hye Soo, his old friend and current boss. Given that she knows all about his past love story, it’s pretty clear she didn’t come all this way for a casual visit.
- Meanwhile, Dae Han is quietly falling apart. Still reeling from the shock of his wife running off with another man, he’s hit with an even harsher blow when he realizes she took the family’s money with her. Left behind with nothing but heartbreak and debt, Dae Han’s life is unraveling faster than he can hold it together.
