Here is the most sensational casting coup of the year. Hrithik Roshan who is currently wrapping up his role as the world-renowned mathematician Anand Kumar in a bio-pic that releases in July, could well be playing his first mythological role very shortly .
In what is possibly the most eyeball-grabbing casting in recent times Hrithik is all set to be cast as Lord Rama in the 250-crore budgeted web series that producer Madhu Mantena is currently processing.
Sources say Hrithik is keen to play Lord Rama.
“He has always wanted to play Marayadha Purushottam Rama. In fact some years ago Hrithik’s father-in-law Sanjay Khan was all set to make Ramayan with Hrithik as Rama.
Mr Khan is still keen to make Ramayan with Hrithik although Hrithik is no longer his son-in-law. There are talks of Sanjay Khan reviving his Ramayan dream.
It remains to be seen which of the two projects Hrithik finally chooses.
Interestingly Mantena wants only Deepika Padukone as Sita to Hrithik’s Rama. Not only is the jodi untried and virgin-fresh it is also felt by all the creative people connected with the Ramayan project that no other actress but Deepika is suitable for Sita’s role.
But first, Hrithik as Rama. This could be the role that Hrithik has been searching for to escape his Krishh image.
