‘Fast & Furious 11’ Could Finally Acknowledge the Forgotten Member of the Toretto Family

It has long been speculated that the yet-to-be-titled Fast & Furious 11— the follow-up to 2022’s Fast X, which concluded on a staggering cliffhanger— will be the final entry in the nearly 25-year-spanning franchise. Over the nearly two-and-a-half decades of the Fast & Furious series, Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto has amassed quite an impressive family; whether it be found family such as Tyrese Gibson‘s Roman Pearce, or long-lost members of the Toretto bloodline such as the addition of John Cena’s Jakob Toretto in F9, Dom has proved to be quite the loyal family man, always accepting new and old faces to his coveted family circle with every passing entry. But what if I told you there was one member of the Toretto family whom Dom has failed to acknowledge at all within the core Fast & Furious films?
That’s right, despite Dom Toretto’s devout beliefs regarding the importance and power of family, he has yet to acknowledge the existence of one of the Toretto family’s most impressive members. While Dom and his team have taken down their fair share of baddies in their time, Dom’s own flesh and blood has been leading his own team of elite drivers on the small screen. This forgotten member of the Toretto family is none other than Tony Toretto.
Who Is Tony Toretto?
Tony Toretto (voiced by Tyler Posey), the young cousin of Dominic, Mia, and Jakob, is the protagonist of Netflix’s animated Fast & Furious spin-off show, Fast & Furious: Spy Racers. While he may be a relative rookie in comparison to his older cousins, Tony Toretto still possesses the same heavy foot and passion for racing that defines the Toretto legacy, not to mention the strong family values and selfless nature of his cousin, Dom. Tony is everything a Toretto should be, and a very capable hero in his own right.

There’s no place like home. With family.
In Fast & Furious: Spy Racers, Tony Toretto and his team of teenage speed demons are recruited by Ms. Nowhere (Renée Elise Goldsberry) — the animated series’ equivalent to Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody from the mainline Fast & Furious films — to infiltrate the nefarious criminal organization known as SHIFT3R, which uses the front of an elite racing league to cover up their ulterior motives. The animated series ran for an impressive six seasons, with its final batch of episodes hitting Netflix back in 2021. While the series is by all accounts canon to the Fast & Furious movies, even featuring the likes of Dominic Toretto (with Vin Diesel reprising his role in voice form) in certain episodes, Dom has yet to even mention his young cousin Tony in the live-action films, and that Fast & Furious 11 could be the final chance for the series to do so.
How Could Tony Toretto Be Used in ‘Fast & Furious 11’?
While Fast & Furious 11 will already have quite a few familiar faces who will need to be accounted for following the events of Fast X, there could still be room for Tony Toretto to make his live-action debut, and there are quite a few ways in which the film could go about doing so. With the final showdown between the Fast Family and Jason Momoa’s villainous Dante Reyes on the horizon, Dom Toretto is going to need all the help he can get, so why not bring Tony into the fold? Diesel has already teased the Fast series’ return to Los Angeles, where it seems a decent chunk of the final film will be set, so there’s no better time to have the entire living Toretto bloodline present for the team’s most high-stakes mission yet (heck, bring Jakob back from the dead while you’re at it), in addition to the core members of Toretto’s family unit.
Not only has Tony proven more than capable of handling himself on a perilous mission, but Tony Toretto’s inclusion in Fast & Furious 11 could give the series an extra dose of family magic in what is said to be the series’ final outing, ending this incredible franchise with a cathartic bang. There’s no better way of driving home the themes of family and togetherness than having the entire Toretto family (blood-related or not) together for the final standoff. And even if it’s too late for Tony to join in on the action, there’s always the chance for Tony to be invited to the next family barbeque!
