The surprise  success  of Mrigdeep Lamba’s Fukrey Returns has  brought  a smile to the  frowning face  of  the film fraternity. The film which earned approximately  8 crores on  Friday leapt to around Rs 11  crores  on Saturday.

It has garnered approximately Rs  30  crores over the weekend ,which is astounding.

The film’s team is  over the  moon.

Says  actor Varun Sharma who  plays the popular character Choocha, “I am very thrilled, really loving the fact the film is getting such amazing response and people are loving the film.It gives us immense happiness when we get the kind of reactions that we are getting from the public. It’s tough for me to express myself in words .I am overwhelmed and really happy.”

Director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba has a lot to be  pleased about. “I feel very happy and satisfied as the film has fulfilled the promise of entertaining people. The kind of love public has given to this film in just three days has literally left me speechless . I am happy to make them happy.”

The brilliant actor Pankaj Tripathi who plays Panditji, adds, “Khushi hai log mere character ko bahut like kar rahe hai( I am pleased  people  like my character). Team work ki safalta hai we are extremely happy(it’s the team’s success).”

Says producer Ritesh Sidhwani , “I’m overwhelmed with the response it’s beyond what we expected, I’m glad to see the love being showered on our film. It’s being enjoyed by families and that’s what we wanted.”

Pulkit Samrat who plays Hunny is in a state  of  disbelief. “It’s  still sinking in! The love for this film is growing by the day and what better reward than this for the team’s hard work! Blessed and satisfied.”

Says  Ali Fazal who plays Zafar seems to be in the throes of ecstasy. “Change is inevitable. And this is a new dawn in the face of Indian cinema. December economics just got altered so I am very excited and happy with all the love pouring in for Fukrey Returns. “

Richa Chadha who plays  the female  gangster Bholi Punjaban feels happy for  the entire hit-starved  film industry.  “I am happy obviously because a hit film helps everyone, the actors, director and the makers. It’s because this year is pretty much a trendsetter of sorts because it will encourage more people to invest in films made at this level with good actors. Fukrey showed that getting an opening is possible with great marketing, trailer and of course content.I am happiest for our director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan  is  taken aback at the magnitude   of success achieved by Fukrey Returns. “The film was expected to do well .But this huge is a pleasant surprise. Surpassing lifetime of part 1 in two days is phenomenal. This year clearly belongs to mindless entertainers. People need entertainment .This message is loud and clear.   Aggressive but well targeted marketing also did the trick.”

However another trade expert Amod Mehra feels Fukrey Returns has benefited from the postponement  of  Padmavati. “Fukrey Returns benefited the most from the absence of Padmavati. Since Diwali not a single film has looked promising , so the audience in frustration have made FR a hit.”
