G-Dragon Finally Speaks on Comeback Concert Chaos: “I Was Shivering, Even the Gear Froze”
On May 14, the BIGBANG frontman, G-Dragon, made a surprise guest appearance on comedian Park Myung-soo’s YouTube show Halmyungsoo. What began as a nostalgic look back at their past collaborations turned into an unexpected reunion when G-Dragon appeared mid-performance of their hit duet “Having an Affair,” catching Park off guard in a heartwarming moment.
Once seated, the two delved into G-Dragon’s recent world tour kickoff concert, Übermensch in Korea, held March 29–30. The event marked his first solo concert in eight years but quickly drew criticism for delays and performance issues.
G-Dragon addressed the controversy directly, explaining that the extreme weather was a key factor:
“Since it was too cold I was literally shaking that day. It rained, hailed, and snowed all at once. Everyone was shivering together,” he said.
“Natural disasters are out of our hands but all the tech stuff we used [Even the robots danced] went through many things. When it’s cold, the machines freeze up too. That caused a lot of delays…”
The artist didn’t shy away from taking responsibility:
“The weather too, but still I should’ve prepared better than that. So yeah, I do wish it had gone better“, he admitted.
The comments shed light on the behind-the-scenes difficulties that plagued the concert, from malfunctioning gear to performance fatigue caused by the freezing conditions. Though the show faced public scrutiny, G-Dragon’s openness and humility have resonated with fans.
