Gautam Rode: All Set To  Conquer Bollywood , But Won’t Do Kissing, Intimate Scenes

It’s not only Sunny Leone who won’t get physical on screen . Television heartthrob Gautam Rode who became a household name with Saraswatichandra has made it very clear to his producers and director that he won’t do any intimate scenes in his debut as a leading man.

Says Gautam, “I am not comfortable with erotica on screen .Fortunately my film Akshar 2 doesn’t have intimate scenes with the leading lady.”

Hard to believe, considering Zareen Khan scorched up the screen with Sharman Joshi in her last film.

Says Gautam firmly, “There are no intimate scenes betweeen us.It’s not an erotic film . It’s suspense in its purest form .We still have to shoot the songs .But one of the songs will be sensuous though not erotic That too I will do  also because  it’s the situation in the film .All of us including the producers and  director are very  clear about avoiding erotic scenes.”

Gautam Rode who has made inroads on television with his much-loved portrayals in Saraswatichandra andSuryaputra Karn is all set to make his debut as a leading man in Aanant Mahadevan’s Aksar 2.

Shedding light on the film Gautam says, “It’s a suspense thriller .The cricketer Sreesanth is also playing an important character . One more central male character is still to be finalised . I am playing an investment banker in the film .I can’t talk about the plot because it would be a dead giveaway.I like to keep some secrets close to my chest.”

What took Gautam so  long to get to a feature film? “I was busy with television and  this one came as soon as my serial Karn got over .I like the script and my character.I like the director  Mr Anant Mahadevan’s work  and  Mr Shyam Bajaj and Narendra Bajaj  are good and credible producers. So signed the film.”

Not that Gautam is a stranger to recognition and adulation.

Recalls Gautam, “It actually struck me that I was a known figure when I wwas outside the country.I was overwhelmed with the response . It actually sank in , when I was in UK for Saraswatichandra . People were chanting my name on Leicester Street .”

Gautam is grateful to television. “Mahakumbh and Karn  helped me to grow as an actor .And the characters were accepted by the audience  Television has given cinema a lot of talent.I like Ronit Roy’s work and career graph .Television  has definitely given actors like us a chance to grow and learn the craft . I owe it all to television.”

About the poor quality of television serials in India as compared with their Pakistani counterpart Gautam says, “Pakistani television  series are finite in duration , so that’s why the interest is on . We are also trying to make finite series now. Which is a good thing.”

While all television actors get linked to their co-stars Gautam has never been linked with any of his co-stars.“I escaped  that because my focus is completely on work . It’s my rozi roti . So work comes first then anything else. I’d love to balance both the television and cinema mediums .Let’s see how it goes .I am new with films. So my whole concentration is on films, as of now.”

Gautam Rode  doesn’t deny seeing someone. “For me till the time it’s confirmed that I am getting married to that person . I don’t want to go public about her.”
