‘General Hospital’ Recap for July 2: Emotions Flare

It looks like Port Charles is on the verge of an all-out mob war. In the latest episode, Sidwell realizes that he almost killed his son and Sonny’s daughter upon firebombing Charlie’s. He also framed someone else for it, and the PDPD thinks Sonny may be responsible for Natalia’s death.

Emma and Gio Hatch a Plan

Emma and Gio have met up for a snack, and she has her new rescue dog, Outbound, with her. Gio is annoyed because the dog keeps eating his shoes. After listening to him complain, Emma suggests he is venting at the dog, but is mad about Brook Lynn and Dante. He agrees, and despite Emma trying to get him to share his feelings, Gio isn’t ready. He tells her that he is about to drop out of PCU because he is there on a music scholarship, but doesn’t think he will ever play music again.

Emma talks Gio into not making a solid decision about school until September. She then suggests that he help her figure out what Professor Dalton is up to. Gio agrees once she reminds him about the suspected animal testing that Dalton was doing in California.

Meanwhile, Brook Lynn and Tracy are having a serious chat about Deception. BLQ informs Granny of the information Natalia shared with her about the company, including how some of the money from Sonny is tainted. Tracy flips because they are looking at felony charges. She suggests that they go to the police and tell them what they know, and maybe they’ll end up with a slap on the wrist.

Brook Lynn refuses because Sonny is the only person that Gio trusts, so she can’t do anything to take him away intentionally. Tracy says that she will talk to the police herself, and in walks Chase. He tells them about the fire at Charlie’s and that Natalia is dead.

Joss Admits That She Joined the WSB to Take Sonny Down

Josslyn is outside of Charlie’s when her WSB handler, Vaughn, finds her. She tells him that she had to see it for herself and can’t seem to leave. Joss says that Kristina almost died because she is Sonny’s daughter, just like Michael almost died because he is Sonny’s son. Death follows Sonny everywhere he goes. She admits that she joined the WSB with a larger goal: to eventually take down Sonny.

She and Vaughn connect in the moment, and he respects the fact that she joined with a solid goal in place. He says those are the agents that usually succeed. The two share a passionate kiss after talking.

Meanwhile, Kristina is at GH getting checked out. Molly arrives and tells her how proud she is of her sister for doing the right thing this time around. The two get emotional as Alexis looks in and sees her daughters. She enters the room and tells them that they all have to stick together and that it is their job to outlive her.

It Looks Like a Mob War Between Sonny and Sidwell

Sidwell invited Selina Wu out to Spoon Island to share some very important news. She’s about to go to war with Sonny because two of her men set the fire at Charlie’s. She realizes that he set her up, and she then takes his suggestion, agreeing to leave Port Charles. Selina tells him that she won’t return until Sonny is dead.

Meanwhile, his son, Marco, is crying at Natalia’s bedside. He eventually leaves the room and sits to talk with Anna and Lucas. He gives Anna all the information that he has on his mother’s last evening. They think Natalia overdosed; the question is whether it was accidental or criminal. Marco tells them that he saw Charlie’s burning on the way to Natalia’s and stopped to rescue Kristina. He realizes that he saved her, not his mother.

Sidwell arrives at General Hospital after Lucas calls him. He tries to comfort his son over the loss of Natalia. Marco then mentions the fire and saving Kristina, and Sidwell is distraught at the realization that he almost killed his son.

Jason joins Sonny in a conversation about Sidwell. They think he firebombed the pub because Sonny won’t sell his piers. Ironically, Sidwell’s son saved Kristina, and Sonny realizes that he owes him, but protecting his family comes first.

Anna knocks on Sonny’s door, and it’s not a friendly visit. She informs him that Natalia is dead and that his bodyguards were seen in and around her room at the Metro Court after Sonny was seen having a heated conversation with her in public. He is a person of interest and was brought in for questioning.
