General Hospital’s Alexis & Drew Actors on Feuding Over Scout

General Hospital’s latest drama between Drew Cain and Alexis Davis has become deeply personal over Scout. The tension began when Drew, played by Cameron Mathison, filed restraining orders to keep Alexis, portrayed by Nancy Lee Grahn, and her family away from his daughter, Scout.

However, the tension took a surprising turn when Drew asked her to defend Willow Tait, who was accused of trying to kill him. At first, Alexis said no, but she agreed after Drew decided to drop most of the restraining orders. Now, fans are split; some support Alexis for wanting to stay close to family, while others think Drew is right to protect his own.

Nancy Lee Grahn and Cameron Mathison discuss Scout drama on General Hospital

General Hospital stars Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) and Cameron Mathison (Drew) shared their thoughts on the storyline involving Scout on Soap Opera Digest. Grahn explained that Alexis has every reason to be upset with Drew. “I mean, that’s her daughter’s daughter. That’s her family. He’s a jerk! But she’s stuck with him.”

The actress said Alexis’s pain comes from love and loss after losing her daughter, Sam, and being kept from Sam’s child makes it even harder. She added that if she were in Alexis’s place, she would do whatever it takes to stay in her grandchild’s life. “If somebody tried to keep me from my grandchild. The grandchild that’s just in my imagination right now [laughs]” — I would go berserk.”

Meanwhile, Mathison explained that Drew’s behavior comes from his need to control and protect. “It’s literally about control,” Mathison admitted. “Everyone was against him, and he felt like he had to go to these extreme measures to protect the people he loves — Scout and Willow.”

He described Drew as a different kind of villain who doesn’t hurt people physically but still causes chaos. “I like that he’s not out there killing people; I like that he’s a villain without actually killing people or physically harming people.”

“He’s just a total jerk, you know? Whereas a lot of villains on the show are out there shooting and killing people on the show. He’s not doing that, but he’s almost worse! And he’s definitely about trying to control people.”

Mathison also pointed out that Drew’s fight with Alexis started because he feared losing Scout. He added, “Even though he’s clearly a horrible father, [him fighting back] is the one thing that almost made sense to me as a dad. That one was easy to justify, to me.”
