8th Golden Kela Awards: List of Winners

The Golden Kela Awards of 2016 was truly a cracker of a ceremony! While Sooraj Pancholi was bestowed with the Worst Actor (Male) award, Dilwale sweeps Golden Kela for the Worst Film at the 8th Golden Kela Awards Show, where the worst of Indian cinema in 2015 was celebrated with gusto.

With many ‘Best’ of the Bollywood Award ceremonies having already been held for the best of Hindi Cinema, the 8th Annual Golden Kela Awards honoured the worst in Bollywood at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on April 2, 2016.

The honour for the Worst Actor (Female) went to Sonam Kapoor for Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo – a wake-up call that acting needs a lot more than just looking good! The Kela for the Worst Director went to Sooraj Barjatiya for Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, for which he also bagged Bas Kijiye Bahut Ho gaya Award.

Other ‘big winners’ of the evening were Most Pointless Sequel/Remake Award – MSG 2 for obvious reasons including over-the-top acting, irritating melodrama and just about everything else!

The Baawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke Award went to Vikas Behl for Shaandaar, for throwing the high level of stupidity on us, playing a ridiculous job as a director by making fine actors like Pankaj Kapoor and Sushma Seth do such lousy acting and finally for spending so much money on a crap story. Was there any story?

Voters chose Birthday Bash from Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend as Most Irritating Song as Alfaaz needs to learn that it takes more than names of fashion brands to write a good song. Imran Khan won the Why Are You Still Trying Award for Katti Batti, to assure  him that he is capable of only serving nonsense and he can never entertain us. Sharing the screen with Kangana Ranaut won’t make him a superstar!

Like every year, there were some Special awards given out by Golden Kela team this time as well. Bajirao Mastani won Manoj Kumar Award for Historical “Accuracy”, Dara Singh Award for Worst Accent was given to Randeep Hooda for Main Aur Charles, Sangh Parivaar Award went to the song Gerua from Dilwale, Shakti Kapoor Award for Misogyny went to Pyaar Ka Panchnama 2 and Sonakshi Sinha received the much deserved What The Hell Award for Ishqholic.

Worst Film – Dilwale

Worst Actor (Male) – Sooraj Pancholi for Hero

Worst Actor (Female) – Sonam Kapoor for Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo

Worst Director – Sooraj Barjatiya for Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo
