Google recently celebrated Pac-Man’s 45th anniversary (on October 30th) by letting users relive the arcade magic right from their browsers. All of that through a special Doodle. It is a playful nod to one of gaming’s most beloved games, and might just be the perfect way to mark Halloween.
But this should only be the start. There are plenty of other legendary games that 100% deserve the same treatment. So, here are five classics that would make perfect future Google Doodles:
1 Minesweeper

This classic Windows game turned simple logic into pure tension, making us sweat as we clicked the mouse button. Because one wrong click and boom! Game over. The game is easy to learn but tough to master, and is endlessly replayable.
The game first appeared in 1990, making it older than most gamers. This year, it is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Now imagine a Google Doodle that brings back the pressure. If Google does do that, it will be a nostalgic throwback to old PCs and mouse clicks; for younger players, it could be their first taste of what vintage puzzle logic looks like.
2 Snake

Before mobile gaming became another mainstream platform for studios to release their games, Snake ruled that space. Released in 1997, the game will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2027. The game is very simple: it’s all about chasing that next pixel snack without bumping into yourself.

But that logic is so addictive. And Google could revive it as a colorful, fast-paced browser Doodle. For Gen Z, it’s a bite-sized introduction to what gaming simplicity looked like before graphical fidelity and open-world games ruled our screens… and life.
3 Space Invaders

At this point, you have played and seen many games and movies about Aliens, lasers, and endless waves of enemies. However, it was Space Invaders that made it cool; that’s why it dominated arcade culture when it was released in 1978.
We are very close to celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2028, making it the perfect time for Google to commemorate the occasion with a Doodle remake. The game was simple but intense, unlike its controls, which only required: move left, move right, shoot.
Even today, most gamers would recognize the game instantly. So if Google decides to give us a Doodle version with vivid colors and nostalgic tunes, it would be best for everyone.
4 Tetris

Few games are as universally loved as Tetris, which debuted in 1984, marking its 40th anniversary in 2024. But we can still celebrate the 41st? 42nd??? Jokes aside, it will be best to see Google celebrate its 45th anniversary.
Google can easily create a minimalist browser version, as the game is all about falling blocks, hypnotic music, and last-second saves. This makes a fun but stress-inducing game.
For older gamers, it will be a nostalgia trip; for Gen Z, it’ll present a fresh chance to test their reflexes and strategy.
5 Pong

This is the game that has evolved into various other games. But it will be amazing to see the original Pong in action. In just 2 years (2027), the game will be celebrating its 55th anniversary, making it a perfect candidate for a sleek, minimalist Doodle.
All Google has to give us is two paddles and one ball, which in return will give us endless bragging rights. It is the kind of game anyone can play in seconds, but master only after hours.
As we look ahead to more anniversaries and opportunities to play Doodle games, one simple question remains: which legendary game would you love to see get the next Google Doodle revival? Comment below to let us know.
