Morgan Wallen Tops Garth Brooks’ Record

Country superstar Morgan Wallen has a new accomplishment to smile about! The singer has now surpassed legendary hitmaker Garth Brooks when it comes to weeks at number one on Billboard’s Top Country Album Chart.

And he did it in record time.

Morgan Wallen’s Race to the Top of the Charts

Brooks, 63, spent the past 35-years racking up number ones, spending 173 weeks collectively at the top spot on Billboard’s prestigious Country Album Chart. That number represents 17 albums that rose to the top of the charts.

Wallen, at 31-years-old, has his 2023 “One Thing At a Time” album to thank for nearly half of his now 174 weeks at number one. That album has racked up 75 weeks in a row at number one. In total, Wallen accomplished the feat in less than five years, with just three albums.

The singer’s debut album, “If I Know Me” in 2018 soared to the number one spot in August of 2020. But it spent just two weeks on top. His 2021 album “Dangerous: The Double Album” hit the charts in 2021 and spent an incredible 97 weeks at number one.

Wallen and Brooks Two of Just 21 Artists With Long Stays on Charts

Morgan Wallen’s accomplishment is rare.

Billboard reports that in the Top Country Album Chart’s 61-year history, only 21 artists have spent 50 or more weeks at the top of it. Of those, only three female solo artists are on that list. They are Lee Ann Rimes with 50 weeks, Shania Twain with 97 weeks and Taylor Swift, with 101 weeks at number one.

Only one black country artist, Charley Pride, makes that list with 85 weeks at number one. He accomplished that feat in the span of just 12 years.
