Peace Out! Here’s Why Morgan Wallen Made Quick Exit from SNL

Morgan Wallen is raising eyebrows for his quick exit off the stage at the end of “Saturday Night Live” Saturday, March 29.

Wallen was Saturday’s musical guest on the 30 Rock stage, alongside host, “Anora” star Mikey Madison. But during the show’s traditional wrap up, when cast members all take the stage and the host says her thank yous and goodnights, Wallen whispered something in Madison’s ear, then walked off the front of the stage, directly in front of the camera while the show was still on the air.

The singer made his exit just six seconds after credits began to roll.

Morgan Wallen Posts Instagram Message Soon After Stage Exit

Not long after Morgan Wallen’s surprising exit from the stage, the country singer posted a photo of a private jet with “Get me to God’s country” written in white text over it on his Instagram account.

But despite the name of his latest song, “I’m the Problem,” which he sang Saturday night, sources say Wallen wasn’t trying to be a problem.

A source close to the singer told “People” magazine that Wallen did not mean to offend anyone by walking off the stage before the show was over. In fact, the source says Wallen wasn’t thinking about how his actions would look to viewers at all.

That same source says Wallen enjoyed his time at SNL.

Still, some viewers expressed shock on social media. One viewer posted on X, “Wow, Morgan Wallen just walking off the stage during the @nbcsnl credits? In decades of watching SNL, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. For so many of us, that is sacred ground.”

Under SNL’s Instagram post of one of Wallen’s performances on the show, another viewer wrote, “So nice of him to storm off Home Base before the credits rolled to head back to “God’s Country” on his private jet. Never invite him back.”

Another commented, “Please don’t have him back. You could tell his lack of respect for the cast and crew.”

But plenty of fans expressed love for the singer and his appearances on SNL. One fan wrote under the performance post, “This makes me so happy!!!❤️🔥Love you, Morgan!!!”

Another said, “The best part of the show!🔥🙌🏼” and another commented, “We need more Morgan Wallen!!!!”

Morgan Wallen’s Past Relationship with ‘Saturday Night Live’ is Tricky

Saturday marked Morgan Wallen‘s second appearance on “SNL” after being removed from the lineup during show week in 2020.

Wallen made his SNL debut in December 2020. Two months before that, he was removed from the show lineup for violating pandemic protocols in place at the time. The week he was set to appear, Wallen was photographed maskless at a University of Alabama football game, kissing female students.

When he appeared on SNL two months later, Wallen took part in a skit making fun of the incident alongside host Jason Bateman.

Wallen also issued an apology at the time, saying in a now-deleted Instagram video, “I’m not positive for COVID. But my actions this past weekend were pretty short sighted, and they’ve obviously affected my long term goals and my dreams. I respect the show’s decision, because I know that I put them in jeopardy.”
