Season 3 “Dancing With the Stars” alum Joey Lawrence and his wife, Samantha Cope, have called off their divorce. Now, the actor is speaking out about reconciling with Cope.
“I’m very thankful. It’s been great. You know, you make some terrible mistakes and it just feels great to have a second chance. To get everything right. I love her to death and I’m very thankful for that,” Lawrence told Entertainment Tonight.
Lawrence went on to say that going through things publicly has been “brutal” but says that “life is what happens outside of the cameras.”
“You have to work at it everyday and you have to make it a priority. You got to put your wife first and there’s a lot of things that come into play that just make it very difficult to do that,” he added before looking into the camera and saying “I love you.”
In August 2024, TMZ reported that Cope filed for divorce from Lawrence two years after they got married. The on-again couple shares one daughter together.

On December 4, Lawrence shared some photos of him and his wife at the premiere of the film “Marry Christmas.” The two appeared more than cozy, even sharing a kiss in one of the snaps.
“I am beyond grateful, I am beyond blessed, I am galaxies beyond thankful. My heart is so full,” Lawrence captioned the post.
Days later, People magazine confirmed that Cope had signed an entry of dismissal on December 1, officially calling off the divorce.
The exact reason for the divorce hasn’t been disclosed, but there have been rumors that Lawrence had an affair with his “Socked in for Christmas” co-star, Melina Alves. He has denied having any type of physical connection with Alves.
“These rumors are false. Our bond was based on shared experiences and an understanding of the challenges we were both facing in our personal lives,” he said in a statement posted to Instagram. The statement has since been deleted.
After he and Cope reconciled, Alves released a statement.
“While these situations are always multifaceted, I’d like to keep the details of it and my friendship with Joey private,” actress Melina Alves said in a statement to People magazine. “As far as Joey and Sam reuniting and reconciling, it came as a surprise to me as everyone else, and if it’s true, I wish them all the love,” she added.

In his interview with ET, Lawrence shared that he and Cope have an “amazing relationship.”
“At the end of the day, it’s about who do you really want to grow old with. After all this is done, who do you want to be on that porch with sipping that coffee? Honestly. And you want to be there with your best friend. And she really is my best friend,” he told the outlet.
“When all the chatter is gone and it’s just the two of us, we have an amazing relationship. And I’m just so thankful I get to grow old with her,” he concluded.
