Rodney Peete Says He Was Only Thinking About ‘Protecting’ Wife Holly Robinson Peete in ‘Crazy’ Moment

Robinson Peete’s family often attends LA Dodgers games and they sit near the dugout, where their son RJ Peete, who has autism, has been a clubhouse attendant for the Dodgers since 2016. The couple was seated along the third base line at the Tokyo Dome when Peete caught the foul ball everyone’s buzzing about.
On a post of the moment shared by USC, where Peete went to school and played baseball, Robinson Peete wrote, “Those foul balls were no joke in our section 😮so bad that they provided gloves AND helmets(no he did not bring a glove to the Tokyo Dome 😆) – that ball was coming right at me 😱😱😂😂sorry Max don’t ban us from games”
“I was thinking of protecting my wife Holly,” Peete told AM570. “That’s all I was thinking about, and didn’t really take a peek at Max coming in and how close he was. We were sitting in the second row, but it started curving back, man. Only thing I could think about was, ‘Okay, I can’t let that ball hit her or me in the head, so let me try to reach out and catch it.”
Laughing, Peete continued, “And then I saw his face! Once I caught it, I saw his face and I was like, ‘Aw, man!’ He was not happy. I mean, he looked at me like I was Bartman from back in the day with the Cubs. Or the cat that tried to break Mookie’s arm in New York. I mean, he looked at me like he wanted blood. But it was actually pretty funny.”
“I had a good time in the stands with the crowd around me,” Peete added. “It was funny.”
