It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Though the holidays are still months away, Hallmark star Sarah Drew is already making big plans. The “Grey’s Anatomy” alum is being showered with sweet messages from her colleagues and fans over the news that Hallmark has renewed her series, “Mistletoe Murders,” for a second season.
As with the first season of the mystery series, which is based on the hugely popular Audible podcast of the same name, the second season of “Mistletoe Murders” will stream on Hallmark+, Deadline reported on March 10, 2025.
After two months of keeping the news a secret, Drew celebrated on social media with a video she recorded in December, dressed in a reindeer costume while cracking open a bottle of champagne with friends.
She captioned the video, “You asked for it- you got it!!!! Dying over this news! So so excited to get back to Fletcher’s Grove and bring you all some more Chrismystery!”
‘Mistletoe Murders’ is the 3rd New Hallmark+ Series to Get Renewed in 2025
The season 2 pickup of “Mistletoe Murders” is the latest series renewal for Hallmark+, which is also bringing back Lacey Chabert’s unscripted series “Celebrations With Lacey Chabert” and Jonathan Bennett’s reality competition “Finding Mr. Christmas.”
Many of Drew’s Hallmark colleagues flooded her post’s comment section with love, including Andrew Walker, who wrote, “The only thing better than celebrating good news with champagne and friends… is celebrating good news in a reindeer costume, with champagne and friends. CONGRATS 🍾”
Erin Cahill commented, “YESSSSSSS!! Huge congratulations! Love the show and love you!! ❤️🎉💕🎉
Cindy Busby chimed in, “So well deserved!!!! 👏👏👏👏”
Ryan McPartlin left three applause emoji, and stars including Ashley Williams and Brooke D’Orsay liked Drew’s celebratory post.
Fans were thrilled by the news, too, including one who wrote, “SO SO EXCITED about this!!!!! We definitely needed more of this amazing show in our lives!!!!”
Sarah Drew Will Reunite With Peter Mooney & Other Beloved Cast Members Returning for Season 2
In the second season of “Mistletoe Murders,” Drew will reprise her role as Emily Lane, a “small-town shop owner with a secret past,” per Deadline. Other returning series regulars include Peter Mooney as local detective Sam Wilner and Sierra Marilyn Riley playing his teenaged daughter Violet, who also works at Emily’s store. Jean Yoon, Lara Amersey, and “Good Witch” alum Kylee Evans will also be back.
Samantha DiPippo, Senior Vice President of Programming for Hallmark Media said in a statement, “We had searched for the right series to blend Christmas with mysteries — two genres our viewers love — and ‘Mistletoe Murders’ cracked that case to perfection. The enthusiastic audience reaction made the decision to renew the series an easy one.”
She continued, “After the jaw-dropping season finale that left fans asking, Who is Emily Lane?, we look forward to another riveting holiday in Fletcher’s Grove filled with mystery, romance and of course, Christmas.”
The series will begin filming later this year so it’s ready for the holiday season, per Deadline.
When the first season of “Mistletoe Murders” wrapped filming in August, Drew wrote on Instagram that she was “all joyed and cried out. Good lord, this was heaven. Absolute heaven. I cannot put into words – I mean- I will later- but it will be hard to put into words how magical this show is- these humans- these new forever friends- this family we’ve forged here in Toronto this summer.”
