While promoting their upcoming HGTV series, “The Flip Off,” Tarek El Moussa, his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, and his ex-wife, Christina Haack, discussed their relationship with each other in a January 2025 interview with Us Weekly.
While speaking to Us Weekly, Tarek El Moussa was asked to share what he learned “from [his] marriage to Christina that [he applies] to [his] life with Heather?” Tarek El Moussa replied that he discovered it is best to keep quiet and accept defeat.
“I shut my mouth and I eat [expletive]!” said Tarek El Moussa with a laugh.
Heather Rae El Moussa interjected that her husband and her have a “completely different” relationship than his marriage with Haack.
“It’s hard to compare because we’re different people,” said Heather Rae El Moussa during the Us Weekly interview.
During the Us Weekly interview, Haack said she had an easy time filming the competition series with her ex-husband, whom she divorced in 2018. Tarek El Moussa agreed with Haack.
“The last couple of years we’ve been in a really good place. It took us almost 10 years to get there, so going back into shooting together, it’s a lot more of an intimate relationship. There were some reservations. But as the show has gone on, we’ve realized it’s just business,” said the father of three.
Heather Rae El Moussa and Haack also said they enjoyed co-starring on “The Flip Off.”
Tarek El Moussa Opened up About His Split From His Ex-Wife
Tarek El Moussa discussed his split from Haack in a February 2024 interview with E! News. He shared that he discovered that he had thyroid cancer and testicular cancer in 2013. He said that after he recovered from his surgeries, he “hurt [his] back,” causing him to go “on opioids for a year.” In addition, he “started taking testosterone injections,” which caused him to have hormonal issues.
“That was the end of me,” said Tarek El Moussa.
He also said that “Christina left [him]” because of his behavior in 2016. He said while the situation “was heartbreaking,” he understood her decision to leave him.
“I was a mess,” said Tarek El Moussa to E! News.
Tarek El Moussa made similar comments about his split from Haack during an April 2024 interview on the “Jennifer Hudson Show.” He said he “wasn’t the best guy in those years” following his thyroid cancer and testicular cancer diagnosis.
Tarek El Moussa Discussed Having Another Child
During his appearance on the “Jennifer Hudson Show,” El Moussa said he felt more prepared when he and his wife had their son, Tristan, in January 2023, than he did when he had his oldest children, Brayden and Taylor, who he shares with Haack. He noted that he was still in his 20s when Taylor was born.
“It’s a different experience. When I was in my 20s, when I had my daughter, I was young, I was building my business. I was young. I was stressed out. And today, I’m a little more established, I’m wiser,” said Tarek El Moussa.
In a joint September 2024 interview with E! News, Tarek El Moussa complimented Heather Rae El Moussa’s ability as a mother.
“She’s the best mom,” said Tarek El Moussa.
In turn, Heather Rae El Moussa said her husband is “a great dad.”
“We love being parents,” said Heather Rae El Moussa to E! News.
