Chamberlain is perhaps best known for starring in NBC’s medical drama “Dr. Kildare” that aired from 1961 to 1966. CNN says the actor’s portrayal of a dashing young physician on the show “cemented” Chamberlain’s heartthrob status in Hollywood.

Richard Chamberlain Was Divorced With No Known Children

Richard Chamberlain did not have any publicly known children, and was divorced when he died. The future of his assets is not immediately clear.

A 2010 Express report announced Chamberlain’s split with his then-husband, Martin Rabbet. The pair married in 1984, and the story says their separation was caused by Chamberlain’s lack of interest in slowing down his acting career.

How blessed were we to have known such an amazing and loving soul.” Rabbett also declared, “Love never dies.”

The pair was together for over 30 years, according to a Today report.

People says the actor announced he was gay in 2003. In a 2014 New York Times interview, he said about his sexuality, “When you grow up in the ’30s, ’40s, and ’50s, being gay, it not only ain’t easy, it’s just impossible.
