Travis Kelce Shares Surprising Way Taylor Swift Helped His Super Bowl Heartbreak

Travis Kelce had to work through his sadness following the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2025 Super Bowl loss. He revealed that he turns to girlfriend Taylor Swift‘s music when he’s feeling down, just like other Swifties!

Taylor Swift’s Songs Help Travis Kelce Work Through Sad Times

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared how much Swift’s music helps when he’s working through sad feelings.

During the February 25 episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, talked about how music can lift your spirits. Jason asked his brother if he listens to “sad music” when he’s depressed.

“The only way to find yourself in the light is to find yourself in the dark first,” Travis said. “I listen to music that is very telling of my mood — yes.”

Jason said he loves “sad country songs” and Travis revealed, “I just listen to Taylor’s songs. She has something for everything.”

His brother agreed, saying, “That’s fair. That’s a good point. No matter what mood, you can find some Taylor music.”

Travis explained he’s been listening to Swift’s music after the Super Bowl loss. “Yeah, and how the Eagles broke my heart,” he said, referencing the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl win.

Travis Kelce Battled a ‘Big Illness’ Ahead of Super Bowl LIX

The Kansas City Chiefs defeat definitely hit Kelce hard, but it turns out the tight end wasn’t feeling 100% for the big game.

During an interview for the February 25 episode of “NFL: The Insiders” podcast, Kansas City Chiefs GM Brett Veach explained, “[Travis Kelce] was battling with [a] pretty big illness there before the Super Bowl.”

Veach said it wasn’t an excuse for the Chiefs loss to the Eagles, however. “Listen, the way the Eagles played, it wouldn’t have made a difference,” he explained.

The Chiefs GM also shed some light on whether or not Kelce might retire from the sport. “I think that Travis is excited to come back,” Veach said. “He makes us better when he’s in our locker room and on the field.”

“Excited to get him back,” Veach added.

During the February 12 episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Travis addressed the possibility of retirement. “I know everybody wants to know whether or not I’m playing next year, and right now, I’m just kicking everything down the road,” he said. “I’m not making any crazy decisions.”

He shared, “I’m gonna take some time to figure it out. And, I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, it’s a wholehearted decision. I’m not half-assing it, and I’m fully here for them.”

Travis added, “I think I can play, it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a person to take on all that responsibility.”
