Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is back on the silver screen with the much-awaited film, Sikandar, released today (30 March). Known for making Eid special for his fans, Salman had a tradition of releasing films on this festive occasion. However, after a two-year break he is back, lastly he was seen in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in 2023. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Sikandar promises action, drama, and entertainment.
Plot Overview
The film story starts in Rajkot, Gujarat, where Sanjay Rajkot (Salman Khan) and his wife, Saisha (Rashmika Mandanna), dedicate their lives to helping the poor. During a flight, Sanjay steps in to protect a woman from Arjun Pradhan (Prateik Babbar). Furious over his public humiliation, Arjun’s father, Minister Rakesh Pradhan (Sathyaraj), plans revenge.
In a shocking turn of events, a bomb blast at Sanjay’s mines leads to Saisha’s tragic death. Before dying, she donates her organs, which are given to three different people in Mumbai. Sanjay travels to Mumbai to meet them to seek closure. Meanwhile there, Arjun Pradhan dies under unknown circumstances and his father blames Sanjay. Determined to take revenge, Rakesh Pradhan targets the three individuals who received Saisha’s organs. Can Sanjay protect them? The answers lie in the film.
Direction, Writing And Music
A.R. Murugadoss, known for Ghajini and Holiday, makes a strong return to Hindi cinema. While the storyline feels predictable at times, the direction keeps the film engaging. The action sequences are well-executed, but some dialogues feel unnecessarily dramatic.
The background score by Santhosh Narayanan fails to make an impact, especially during fight sequences. The film’s soundtrack, composed by Pritam, is average, with only Sikandar Nache Nache standing out.
Performances
Salman Khan delivers a power-packed performance, living up to his larger-than-life persona. Rashmika Mandanna does well in her limited role. Sathyaraj impresses as the antagonist, commanding attention whenever he appears on screen. Sharad Joshi, playing Sanjay’s manager, gives a surprising yet commendable performance. Jatin Sarna also shines in his role. The film features cameos from Sanjay Kapoor, Kajal Aggarwal, Vishal Vashishtha, Anjini Dhawan, and Nawab Shah.
Sikandar is a treat for Salman Khan fans and a classic Eid entertainer filled with action drama, and dance. While it has its flaws, the film delivers what it promises—pure commercial entertainment.
