Scary Movie 6 is going back to its origins.
During an interview supporting brother Damon Wayans Sr.'s CBS series Poppa's House, Marlon Wayans teased to PEOPLE what fans can expect out of the upcoming sixth Scary Movie film.
"We got the gloves off. We're going R. We're going to have the same fun and the same kind of tone and Wayans flavor that we gave on the first one," Marlon, 52, says.
Marlon and Shawn Wayans wrote and starred in the first two Scary Movie entries, in 2000 and 2001, that poke fun at popular horror like Scream, The Blair Witch Project, The Sixth Sense and more. Their brother Keenen Ivory Wayans directed those, and the trio are returning to the franchise after not being involved in the other three sequels, released in 2003, 2006 and 2013.
Marlon says the sequels that came after the Wayans' involvement were "missing that flavor," so with Scary Movie 6, "we're bringing out Lowry's and that Frank's Hot Sauce" to spice it up.

2003's Scary Movie 3 and 2006's Scary Movie 4 were directed by David Zucker, and the most recent, 2013's Scary Movie V (starring Simon Rex and Ashley Tisdale) was directed by Zucker and Malcolm D. Lee.
In October 2024, Marlon revealed that he and his brothers would be returning to the horror-spoof franchise for the first time since Scary Movie 2.
"WE’RE BACK!!!" Marlon wrote alongside a photo of the Ghostface killer. "After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for ... a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!"

“We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again," the brothers told Deadline about making their return to the franchise. "This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again."
"We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It’s a double reunion," the siblings added.
Scary Movie 6 is in theaters June 12, 2026. Poppa's House airs Mondays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
