KISS OF LIFE has shared a personal apology after Julie birthday live stream.
Following Julie’s birthday livestream, KISS OF LIFE was criticized for appearing in styles depicting racial stereotypes of Black people. The group also acted in stereotypical ways, with Belle dressing in clothing usually worn by the Latino Cholo subculture and calling herself “Taco Belle.”
Despite the group’s company’s apology, many fans felt that not enough appropriate action was taken.
Now, following the backlash the group has faced, they have shared a handwritten apology addressing the live stream.
On April 5, KISS OF LIFE shared a letter on their Instagram account, directly apologizing for the livestream. The letter mentioned that they had been reflecting and promised to do better after the culturally insensitive content.
