Kelsea Ballerini has announced that her dog Dibby has inoperable heart cancer.
The country star shared the news on her Instagram stories Aug. 28 and said Dibby has been her "steady" for the last nine years.
"The last few days we have discovered that dibby has inoperable cancer in his heart," she wrote. "He's not in pain, and luckily it hasn't spread further. we're going to start him on the 'big' meds to try to make sure he can have as many comfortable and happy days (weeks, months) left as possible."

Ballerini said Dibby's medical team has "been amazing" and that her mother is with her. Ballerini also shouted out her boyfriend, Chase Stokes, as the "greatest dog dad in the world."
"He is getting extra cuddles and kibbles from his little family," she wrote of Dibby.

Ballerini added tidbits about the significant role Dibby played in her life, and she thanked fans for their support.
"It's a complex and emotional time. he's been my baby and my steady for the last nine years and very much alongside this whole journey with us all. i know so many of you care about him and are sending him prayers and love, and from my whole heart... thank you," she wrote, adding that "he's wagging his tail right now no doubt saying thank you too."

Ballerini also shared a picture of Dibby sitting while turning his head, complete with a heart emoji.Ballerini posts photos of Dibby frequently, like when she shared holiday pics of them together on July 4.
"Dibs says excuse me but I am the hot dawg," one fan commented.
"Dibs is so happy!" another said.
The “Love Me Like You Mean It" singer also posted them together on an airplane in March.
"Until further notice this is a dibs fan account sprinkled with cryptic album making content," Ballerini captioned. The singer's new album, "Patterns," is set to be released Oct. 25
"This has always been a dibs fan account," one fan penned.
"Dibs for president," another added.
"Yay, more Dibby," a third wrote.
